Summary: Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a full-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits and, along with Rukia--who is slowly regaining her powers--it's Ichigo's job to protect the innocent from Hollows and help the spirits themselves find peace.

vaguely remember there being some mention of ishida's dad and ichigo's mom being related, brother and sister or some such thing. if anything she'd have been a quincy. might be mistaken about that though. would love to find out that the king of soul society is actually a quincy, or is also the king of hollows and both sides were created by the royals in the distant past as some perverse form of entertainment and looked at in a way similar to say the greek gods viewed people.

'how could he have never been to soul society if he had opened the gate to soul society.' if i remember correctly hasn't it been said that the king lives in a different dimension outside of the soul society, so it would be perfectly reasonable for someone to have been to one and not the other.

I agree with Nikozai, the fact that 'getsu' is of the royal house would be pretty cool, perhaps Aizen is a relation (Suigetsu or sumth).
