Summary: Letter Bees (Tegami Bachi) are couriers that delivers letters and packages throughout Amber Ground, a land of eternal dusk lit up partially by an artificial sun at the capital. This land is made up mostly of isolated towns and villages and a wilderness crawling with extremely dangerous armoured beetles called gaichuu that are attracted to people's "hearts". These hearts are the feelings and memories of the people of Amber Ground that lie in everyday objects. The protagonist Lag Seeing is working as a new Bee with his Dingo, Niche, and her pet, Steak. His dream is to one day meet up with Gauche Suede, the Bee that delivered him to his aunt five years prior. Lag journeys around delivering packages and letters containing the hearts of their senders, meeting new people, and defeating gaichuu. However, he finds out that Gauche no longer works as a Bee and has been missing for some time. Wanting to know what happened to the hero that inspired him to become a Letter Bee, Lag takes it upon himself to find Gauche's whereabouts.
